Knockout Drum

Knockout Drum

A Knockout Drum is an essential component in many industrial processes, particularly in the oil and gas, petrochemical, and chemical industries. It is designed to remove any liquid (such as water, oil, or other process liquids) from a gas or vapor stream before it enters downstream equipment, ensuring that the system operates efficiently and preventing damage to sensitive machinery.

Typically, a Knockout Drum is a cylindrical vessel that uses gravity to separate the liquid phase from the gas phase. The gas enters the drum, where its velocity is reduced. This drop in velocity allows the heavier liquid droplets to fall to the bottom of the drum, where they are collected. The separated liquid is then drained off through a valve or other exit points, while the gas continues through the system.
